STAROFASH: 'The Thread' Release Date Announced
January 21, 2008Mnemosyne Productions — the company owned/operated since 2003 by partners Ihsahn (EMPEROR frontman) and wife Ihriel (real name: Heidi S. Tveitan; PECCATUM) — and Candlelight Records have set a March 24 European release date (one day later in North America) for the new album from Ihriel's STAROFASH solo project. Entitled "The Thread", the CD will include collaborations with the German musician and composer Markus Reuter and the Japanese cyber-punk writer Kenji Siratori. Musically this album "is a continuation of my earlier work, but with more focus on the compelling melody over a changeable sonic landscape and with more experimental instrumentation," says Heidi.
STAROFASH's debut album, "Iter.Viator" (2002),was described in a press release as "a poetic and graceful drama, a melancholic movement over strings, guitars, keyboards, drums and voices, echoing CURRENT 93, early DEAD CAN DANCE and CRAIG ARMSTRONG soundtracks. This album pushes the boundaries of traditional genre categorization and instrument usage, while remaining true to a soulful pattern that is Heidi S. Tveitan's alone. 'Iter.Viator' also presents guest appearances by members of EMPEROR and ULVER."
Mnemosyne Productions was established as an outlet for Ihsahn and Ihriel's musical collaborations as well a place for new talent and innovative artists.
